Ceramides make up around half the lipid content of your skin barrier. They are not a moisturiser in the conventional sense — they don't sit on the surface holding water, they become part of the structure that holds water on your behalf. When cleansing, air-conditioning and over-exfoliation deplete them, skin loses water continuously and becomes reactive to products it previously tolerated.
The ratio matters more than the number. We use Ceramide NP, AP and EOP together, in the proportion found in healthy skin — a single ceramide on an ingredient list is closer to marketing than repair.
