Niacinamide

Regulates oil, supports barrier lipid production, and evens tone over months rather than weeks.

What it actually does

Niacinamide is the rare active that does several unrelated things competently. It signals skin to produce more of its own ceramides, moderates sebum output, reduces the transfer of pigment to surface cells, and calms inflammation. It is also one of the best-tolerated actives in dermatology, which is why it appears across almost every product category.

The dose we use, and why

2–5% is where the evidence sits. Above 10% the extra benefit is negligible and flushing becomes common — high percentages on a label are a marketing decision, not a formulation one.

What it pairs with

With ceramides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and sunscreen filters. The old warning about vitamin C incompatibility has not held up.

Where to be careful

If you flush easily, start at a lower percentage and build.

Formulated with it
