Glutathione

Shifts pigment production toward the lighter pigment type and neutralises oxidative triggers.

What it actually does

Glutathione is an antioxidant your body already makes. Topically, it acts on the pigment pathway by favouring phaeomelanin, the lighter pigment, over eumelanin, the darker one — and by mopping up the oxidative stress that provokes pigment production in the first place. We should be direct about the context: injectable glutathione for skin lightening is widely marketed in India, poorly regulated, and not something we would ever endorse.

The dose we use, and why

Used topically as a supporting antioxidant alongside primary brightening actives, not as a headline claim.

What it pairs with

With vitamin C, which regenerates it, and with kojic acid on the production side.

Where to be careful

Avoid injectable or IV glutathione marketed for skin lightening. The safety evidence does not support it.

Formulated with it
