Salicylic Acid

Oil-soluble, so it works inside the pore rather than only on the surface.

What it actually does

Salicylic acid is the reason BHA and AHA are not interchangeable. Being oil-soluble, it dissolves through sebum into the follicle itself and clears the plug that becomes a blackhead or an inflamed breakout. It is also anti-inflammatory, which is why it settles active spots rather than merely drying them. For congested and oily skin in humid conditions, it is the most useful exfoliant available.

The dose we use, and why

0.5–2%. In a daily cleanser, low strength with short contact time is the sustainable approach.

What it pairs with

With niacinamide for oil regulation, and a light moisturiser afterwards — always.

Where to be careful

Avoid during pregnancy without medical advice. Don't combine with other acids on the same night.

Formulated with it
