Hair fall & scalp health

Hair is the first place your body economises when something is off. Which is why treating only the strand (and not the scalp, the diet or the cause) so rarely works.

The short answer: losing 50 to 100 hairs a day is normal. Sustained loss beyond that usually traces to iron, vitamin D, B12 or thyroid, to a scalp inflammation such as dandruff, or to hereditary pattern loss. A blood test tells you more than any shampoo will. We do not make a hair product, and this page is the honest advice rather than a route to one.

What's actually happening

A hair follicle is one of the most metabolically demanding structures in the body, and it is entirely dependent on what reaches it: blood supply, nutrients, and a scalp environment it can work in. Iron, vitamin D, zinc, protein and B-vitamins all have documented roles in the hair cycle, and deficiency in any of them shows up as shedding months later. Hair works on a long delay. Add a scalp that's inflamed, flaky or oil-clogged, and the follicle is fighting on two fronts. Crash diets, postpartum shifts, thyroid issues and stress all push follicles into their resting phase at once, which is why hair often falls in waves rather than gradually.

The honest part

Most hair-fall marketing sells you something to rub on the strand. But a strand of hair is dead: the living part is the follicle beneath the scalp, and it responds to nutrition, to scalp health, and to time. Expect three to six months before any honest intervention shows in the mirror, because that's how long the hair cycle takes. And persistent, patterned loss deserves a trichologist or dermatologist, not a bigger bottle.

The approach

Four moves, in this order.

Step 01

Feed the follicle first

Protein at every meal, and checked, not guessed, levels of iron, vitamin D, B12 and zinc. Deficiency is the most common treatable cause of diffuse shedding, especially in Indian diets and especially in women.

Step 02

Treat the scalp like skin

Because it is skin. A flaky, itchy or oily scalp is an inflamed one. Wash regularly with a gentle shampoo, don't scratch, and treat dandruff early rather than living with it.

Step 03

Handle hair like it's fragile

Loose styles over tight ones, minimal heat, no aggressive towelling. Traction from tight braids and buns is a fully preventable cause of permanent loss along the hairline.

Step 04

Investigate, don't just supplement

Sudden or patchy loss, loss with fatigue, or loss that continues past six months needs a blood panel and a specialist. Biotin gummies are not a diagnosis.

Where we stand

We don't make one yet.

There is no DavaniQ product on this page, and that's deliberate. Hair and scalp is a category full of products sold on hope, and the evidence points first at nutrition, at scalp health, and at finding the actual cause. We'd rather tell you that plainly than sell you a bottle to be seen in the category.

If and when we formulate for hair, it will be because we found something we could defend at a dose that works. Until then, the advice above is the honest version, and a trichologist or dermatologist is the right next step for persistent loss.

DavaniQ products are cosmetic formulations intended to support skin health and appearance. They are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any condition. If a concern is persistent, painful or changing, please see a qualified dermatologist.

Common questions

The ones people actually search.

How much hair fall is normal per day?

Fifty to a hundred strands a day, which looks like a lot when it collects in a drain or on a comb. What matters is the trend rather than the count: visible thinning at the parting, a smaller ponytail circumference, or clumps coming out on gentle pulling are the signs worth acting on.

Does dandruff cause hair fall?

Indirectly, yes. Dandruff itself does not pull hair out, but the inflammation and scratching it causes disrupt the follicle and increase shedding. Treating the scalp with an antifungal shampoo, ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione, twice weekly usually settles the shedding within a few weeks.

Which deficiency causes hair fall?

Iron and ferritin first, then vitamin D, B12 and thyroid function. In India, iron deficiency in women and vitamin D deficiency across the board are both common enough to be worth testing before anything else. Correcting a deficiency regrows hair; taking a supplement you did not need does not.

Do hair oils stop hair fall?

Oiling improves scalp comfort and reduces breakage along the shaft, which makes hair look fuller. It does not address the follicle, so it does not stop true shedding from a deficiency, hormonal cause or pattern loss. Vigorous oiling with heavy massage on already-shedding hair can make the loss look worse.
